The Department of Science and Humanities(S&H) at PES University, Bangalore is highly focused on imparting quality education to meet the global challenges of science and technology. The department plays a vital role in laying the strongest foundation so that the students are well equipped to stand up to their rigorous Engineering courses.
The Department of S&H is responsible for I year B.Tech students and facilitates conduction of courses in Mathematics, Physics , Chemistry, Computer
Science, Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics for I year B. Tech students along with Mathematics for II year B.Tech students. Apart from this, subjects like Environmental studies, Constitution of India and Professional ethics, Unified Engineering (JEDI) and Foreign languages such as French and German are handled by the Department of S&H.
The Department consists of highly experienced, talented and dedicated faculty members of whom many hold Ph.D degrees from reputed universities and few are pursuing their Ph.D. Some of the faculty members are actively involved in research and have publications in reputed international and national journals and conferences. Some UG, PG and Ph.D students are involved in research projects under their guidance. These students publish articles in International and National conferences. Some faculty members have projects funded by various agencies while some have projects funded by PES University.
The Department of S&H plays an active role in Community Development Program (CDP). The students and teachers involve themselves in various activities like training Govt. School students for scholarship exams, visiting orphanages, improving conditions in some PES adopted BBMP schools and organising blood donation camps.
